These are just some recent sketches from photographs I have taken. Ideas that will develop further for lino print designs, larger scale drawings and mixed media projects.

Bit unprepared for much while in cunamulla but I got a few things down while filling in time.

cunamulla 5 days

 Being stuck in Cunamulla provided insight into the sudden change of circumstance, and the imapct an increase of water really has on everyday life. Lots of reading, walking, tinned stew, beer at the pub, swag unrolling and mosquitoes.
Wouldn't mind taking an extended camping trip and seeing what came about on paper.

social commentary photo shoot

The photo shoot was meant to portray the journey several pets take from a novel idea for a present to becoming forgotten and eventually abandoned. The idea was to have a really bright, glitzty happy seen opposed with a darker gloomy scene which both depict a dog at different stages.The top box is supposed to depict the dog as a christmas present, yet the one underneath represents it's abandonment and homelessness. It would have been nice to have been able to depict more than two stages which would have created more of an idea of the downfall of the pet.

 The theme for the project was social commentary, so I chose to comment on the neglect of domestic pets. I decided to use a combination of hand drawn images with photographs for a quirky quality.The images are meant to show the ways people forget the responsibility involved with an animal. The roles of the child and dog are played in reverse as I thought it would strengthen the emotional response.
